Opress was later murdered by Darth Sidious in a duel. Eventually they and the Death Watch with help of several galactic criminals took control of Mandalore but they were betrayed by Pre Vizla, and they formed the Mandalorian supercommandos. He went to Talzin to restore Maul's memories, and after that, they did all sorts of trouble, like massacring a village's ciitzens and wanting to kill Obi-Wan Kenobi as their top goal. Mother Talzin tasked Savage with finding Maul, and he did, on the planet Lotho Minor. Ultimately after several assignments by Dooku, he turned against both and betrayed them because of their "demanding orders" in a duel over Toydaria onboard Dooku's Providence-class carrier/destroyer. The Nightsisters leader gave Savage a new quest: to find his brother, Darth Maul, who had somehow survived his apparent death and was. His loyalty, however, remained to Talzin. Transformed into a monstrous warrior by Mother Talzin, Opress became Count Dooku's new assassin and secret Sith apprentice.
At first Opress was Count Dooku's replacement apprentice for Asajj Ventress, but in reality he had been ordered by Ventress and the Nightsisters to destroy the Count. Savage Opress was once a common Nightbrother whose fighting prowess impressed Asajj Ventress. Savage Opress was a Dathomirian Zabrak Nightbrother who became a Sith Lord alongside his younger brother, Darth Maul, during the Clone Wars era.
